Anti-Protest Legislation Set for Showdown in the House of Lords
Although there is little chance of stopping the policing bill in its main form, the House of Lords is set to tear up most of Priti Patel's amendments, especially those that target peaceful protesters. These measures were never debated by MPs or scrutinised by a select committee. Patel added them undemocratically after the House of Commons stage, but that means the Lords do have the power to strike them down.
