Must know tips when jacking up a vehicle. About a year ago I watched a video with a jack failure where the jack pulled off the lift point on the vehicle and collapsed the rocker. #mechanictips #oemtools #automotiverepair

First is working on a smooth clean surface. Make sure there are no small objects such as rocks it prevents the jack from pulling into the vehicle when lifting.
Next is making sure the pad on the jack is centered with that lift point on the vehicle.
Once that jack is in place, straighten up those rear caster wheels if needed, and angle them back, to the position where they should be when pushing a jack.
Finally is putting some mild pressure on the jack, pushing it into the vehicle once it has a little weight on it, promoting it to move forward. As the jack arm raises, it slowly pulls in towards the vehicle and you can see the wheel rotate slowly. All of these tips help the jack move more freely minimizing the risk of damage.
