On Day 6 of our adventures in New Zealand, we continued exploring ROTORUA before heading to LAKE TAUPO. Our first stop was the WAI-O-TAPU THERMAL WONDERLAND where we marveled at the stunningly surreal landscape. Some of the highlights included the LADY KNOX GEYSER, steaming craters, boiling mud pools, bubbling hot springs, and an unbelievable neon green pool.


Next we witnessed the power of nearly a quarter of a million liters of water per second gushing through a gorge and thundering into the Waikato River at HUKA FALLS before arriving in TAUPO, where we visited the WORLD’S COOLEST McDONALD’S (no joke - it really is)! Out last activity of the day was a relaxing sailboat ride on Lake Taupo where we saw amazing Maori Rock Carvings. We ended the day with a delicious meal at a lakefront restaurant while enjoying the beautiful sunset.
