CHICKEN YAKHNI recipe:

Ingredients for CHICKEN YAKHNI:
• Sona Masoori Rice 500 gm (or Jeera Rice)
• Chicken 1 Kg
• Onion 4-5 medium sized
• Tomato 4-5 medium sized
• Green Chilly 2 finely chopped
• Pepper Powder 1/4 tsp
• Homemade Garam Masala Powder 2 and
half tsp
• Turmeric Powder 1 and half tsp
• Ginger-Garlic paste 2 tsp
• Lemon 1 squeezed
• Cinnamon 2 pieces
• Cardamom 4-5 pieces
• Cloves 6-7 pieces
• Badi Saunf (Fennel Seeds) 1/4 tsp
• Pulav Leaf 1
• Coriander Leaves 1 cup
• Water 900 ml
• Ghee 1 cup
• Salt as needed

Method for preparing CHICKEN YAKHNI:
• In a cooker, heat ghee.
• Add chopped onions, spices(cardamom, cinnamon, cloves and fennel seeds) and saute it on medium flame till it turns golden brown in colour.
• Add chopped tomato and finely chopped green chilly.
• Saute till the tomato gets fully mashed.
• Now add Chicken pieces.
• Then add ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder, salt as needed and mix well.
• Close the lid and cook on medium flame till the chicken releases water.
• Once chicken releases water, stir it to avoid burning from bottom.
• Then add Homemade garam masala powder (recipe link given above👆🏻), pepper powder and lemon squeezed.
(Note: You can also add any extra chicken masala powder for nice aroma, I usually use Bon Chicken Masala Powder but I have not used here in this video).
• Now mix well all the ingredients.
• Close the lid and cook on medium flame for 10 minutes.
• If you prefer spicy then add chilly powder.
• Add finely coriander leaves and mix well.
• Now add water.
(Note: Usually for pulav, water should be taken twice the amount of rice, but here as the chicken releases water, slightly reduce the water quantity as I mentioned in the video)
• Add pulav leaf and when the water starts to boil, add sona masoori rice. (I usually use Jeera rice as it has a nice aroma)
• Once stir well and close the cooker lid.
• Cook for 2 whistles and switch off the flame.
• Once done, open the lid and gently give it a stir.
• Yummy and Tasty Chicken Yakhni is ready to serve.
• Serve it hot.
