Amazing Caramel Apple Galette Recipe | The Ultimate Rustic Apple Pie
A simple & incredibly delicious caramel apple galette recipe! The filling is packed with flavors (the apple, cinnamon, brown sugar, butter, dark rum... they create the most satisfying smell and flavor.), and it tastes exceptional with a drizzle of caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream. Enjoy it with your family and friends through this fall and holiday season.
📌 The Ingredients To Make Caramel Apple Galette
Makes about 1 10-inch | 25 cm pie
[Pie Dough]
• All-purpose flour: 375 g | 13.2 oz (3 US cups * Calculated as 1 cup = 125 g, the surface leveled.)
• Granulated sugar: 1 Tbsp
• Salt: 1/2 tsp
• Unsalted butter: 226 g | 8 oz (2 US sticks)
• Icy water: 110 g | 3.9 oz
• Oil: 1 Tbsp
• Bread flour (or all-purpose flour) to roll the dough: some
[Caramel Apple Filling]
• Apple (Peeled, cored, and cut into cubes): 600 g | 21 oz (Granny Smith: 300 g | 10.5 oz + Golden Delicious: 300 g | 10.5 oz) * 2 medium-size apples makes about 300 g. But I highly recommend weighing them for more accuracy.
• Lemon zest: 1/2 lemon
• Granulated sugar for caramel: 40g | 1.4 oz (1/4 US cup - 2 tsp)
• Unsalted butter: 42 g | 1.5 oz (3 Tbsp)
• Light brown sugar: 55 g | 2 oz (1/4 US cup)
• Salt: 1/8 tsp
• Cinnamon: 1 tsp
• Cornstarch: 1 Tbsp *Level the surface.
• Heavy cream: 2 Tbsp (30 g)
• Dark rum: 2 Tbsp (30 g)
• Lemon juice: 1 tsp
[Assembling]
• Apple (Peeled, cored, and sliced thinly): about 2.5 - 3 medium-large apples (I also mixed Granny Smith and Golden Delicious)
• Cornstarch: 1/2 Tbsp
• Unsalted butter (melted): 1 Tbsp
• Granulated sugar: 25 g | 0.9 oz (1/8 US cup)
• Cinnamon: 1/8 tsp
• Egg white: some
• Apricot jam: 70 g | 2.5 oz (1/4 US cup)
• Water: 2 tsp (10 g)
[Caramel Sauce]
• Granulated sugar: 200 g | 7 oz (1 US cup)
• Heavy cream: 150 g | 5.3 oz (2/3 US cup)
• Vanilla beans: 1/4 - 1/3 pod (or vanilla extract 1/3 tsp)
• Salt: 1/4 tsp (or more as you like!)

Bake (Preheated) at 425 F | 218 C for 10 minutes, turn it down to 375 F | 190 C and bake for another 35 - 40 minutes.
