Jewish Mixology with Jhos: The "Passover in a Glass" Cocktail | JCCSF

Enjoy the flavors of the seder throughout Passover or all year long with this cocktail featuring matzo, Manischewitz wine and carpas (parsley). Our resident Maggid and mixologist Jhos shows you how to concoct his delicious, nuanced, and unorthodox "Passover In A Glass" cocktail as part of our Nosh on This video series. https://www.jccsf.org/program/nosh-on-this

INGREDIENTS

1.5 oz matzah-infused vodka or rum
.75 oz white grape juice
3 dashes Angostura orange bitters
.5 oz Manischewitz Concord grape kosher wine
Parsley for garnish
PREP

Matzah-infused alcohol: Put one sheet of matzah, broken in largish pieces, into a pint mason jar. Fill with either vodka or an island style rum (Mount Gay for example). Let sit for 1 – 2 hours. Strain through a clean paper coffee filter, or a few layers of cheese cloth, into a clean container with a lid.

CREATE

- Put the Manischewitz in the bottom of a conical martini glass.
- In a mixing beaker add bitters, grape juice, and matzah-infused spirits. Add ice. Stir until very cold.
- Carefully strain the drink from the beaker, pouring it into the glass using the mixing spoon to float the drink on top of the Manischewitz.
- Garnish with a sprig of parsley.
