Trafalgar Cold Safe, Humble-Pie Apology Video.

The Trafalgar No 2 Cold Safe cannot be more than 99 years old, and in all probability is several years younger than that...; all I can say is that it was in Glen Innes & keeping Cream cold in the Dairy in 1926 or so.

It would use 12 to 15 litres per day if I didn't recycle the water from the collecting-bucket back to the top tank, because that's how much water goes through the tank in 24 hours ; but recycling the water cuts the usage down to 5 - 8 litres per day.

FURTHER CORRECTIONS..

Neville Fakes graduated as an Aeronautical Engineer, indeed, but he was never enlisted in the Services ; he worked as a Civilian in the Australian Aircraft Industry (probably for the Commonwealth Aircraft Factory ?).

Post WW-2 he worked for Royal Dutch Shell, as a Negotiator, in the1960s he was in Venezuela, in that capacity, before going to Japan.

He had either an OBE or an MBE from QE-2, and before the Japanese Government named him a "Living Cultural Treasure" they had to clear their Award with Buckingham Palace beforehand.

It was a different one of my father's old friends, entirely, who was the Administrator of Lord Howe Island.

Oral History, it's full of bloody pitfalls...(!).
