I'm sharing my discoveries over the coming, weeks, months, and possibly years. Fascinating facts accompany all my videos:

This enormous flag was flown on the HMS Chester frigate at the battle of Jutland. The Battle of Jutland was a naval engagement fought between the British Royal Navy and the German Kaiserliche Marine on May 31-June 1, 1916, during World War I. It was the largest naval battle in history at the time and involved over 250 ships and 100,000 sailors.

The HMS Chester is mentioned as one of the ships that was built in British yards in 1915 for the Greek Navy, but was commandeered by the Royal Navy. HMS Chester's sister ship was the HMS Birkenhead. HMS Chester (L24), a Royal Navy sloop was built in 1938 to replace the vessel and served during World War II, I found that she was decommissioned in 1948.

The Flag that adorned both vessels was donated to the people of Chester and now features in Chester's cathedral.

Who put Great in British?

Britishness is a sense of shared culture of the British people that survived countless wars put upon them by aristocratic meglamaniacs. The Oxford English Dictionary, says the term "Britishness" dates back to 1857, and it has evolved over time to encompass different aspects of British culture, history, and values.

A global perspective, reflected in the UK's history as a colonial power and its current status as a multinational state. Stoicism, although this is not universally applicable is a national point of interest. Like all cultures across the world, a love of tradition, including customs, art, music, food, landscape, nature, sports, and cultural practices dominate it's people.
