Discover Greece with Maria Moutsou

Greece's vineyards are undeniably the oldest in Europe, having been in continuous use for six millenia. While you may not be as familiar with Greece's wines as you are with those of some other European countries, the influence of its vast wine heritage and culture can be seen in everything from wine classifications to winemaking technology, exportation, education, service and food pairing. In this one hour webinar, Greek wine expert Maria Moutsou invites you on a virtual journey through today's Greek vineyards, travelling from the smallest PDO region in the North West to the largest in the mainland South, and reaching further out to the celebrated island of Santorini.

During this webinar, Maria will taste three different styles of wine, all sharing PDO status, from Kudos Wines:
+ Domaine Glinavos Debina: a sparkling wine from a rare grape variety
+ Gavalas Nykteri: a complex and highly regarded Santorinian white, made by perhaps the most famous of Greek grapes, Assyrtiko
+ Papaioannou Ktima Red: a red Nemea, made from Greece's most cultivated red grape, Agiorgitiko

"Although WSET School London's building has had to close in light of the coronavirus pandemic, courses are still available online. In addition, while we are unable to deliver our usual packed programme of evening tasting events, we are hosting webinars on a variety of topics for you to expand your wine, spirits and sake knowledge. Visit wsetschool.com and go to our Tastings and Events page to find out more."
