Typhoon Haishen has rapidly intensified in the past day and is now a category 4 equivalent storm, and is continuing to intensify right now. Haishen is now forecast to become a super typhoon by the JTWC in the next 24 hours and could become a category 5 storm. Haishen poses a major threat to both Japan and South Korea, where a major hurricane equivalent landfall could occur.

Elsewhere in the tropics, Tropical Storm Nana is moving inland over Central America after making a hurricane landfall last night and is about to degenerate into a remnant low, with low odds of regeneration in the Eastern Pacific. Omar is barely hanging on as a tropical cyclone, and numerous tropical waves could develop over the next several days.
