A Tour of our Glass Hallway at Patina Farm

I love all of the quirky details that we included when building our home. They add a sense of humor and make our home unique. This hallway to our children’s bedroom has some of my favorite details:
• Our Little 17th Century French Oak laundry room door, with original hardware,is a focal point at the end of our entry hall.
• We paired the door with one antique wall sconce. Since the door is so short, we placed the sconce at 4’6”
• Our crazy little stairway to the second level of our Bell Tower (there actually is a bell hanging the the tower that we use as a door bell). We made the stairs out of old scaffolding planks.
• Our wonky wall of antique leather books.
• Our collection of large carved wood mushrooms adds an “Alice in Wonderland” feel to our glassed in hallway
• The sheets of glass provide a seamless connection to the garden outside
• One of Steve’s beautiful water paintings hangs on the wall, adding soft color to this space (we’ll share more about his artwork in a future video).
• The potted boxwood and grapefruit tree blur the line between the outdoor and indoor spaces.
• Our antique French clock face is an unexpected piece of art that our guests discover as they turn the corner.
• The flooring in the hallway is French limestone, also adding to the outdoor aesthetic.
• We also covered the wall in the same limestone that we used outside on the facade of the upper part of the Bell Tower, giving the illusion that the tower actually goes through the house and that the space was once outside.
We share more details about our home, our life, and our design philosophy rin our books Patina Style, Patina Farm and Patina Living
