My first white cane Blind girl adventure in my new neighborhood! Come along with Joy!
For those of you who are new to my channel, I am 100% completely blind and have no light perception, but I love my life and I try my best each and every day to live it with light and positivity full of hope and joy.
I have been completely blind for over 13 years and have had two Guide Dogs, but now as I’m in between dogs, waiting for my new guiding angel, I am getting reacquainted with my amazing friend my lovely white cane!
Today I am taking you on this fun adventure with me as I am learning how to navigate my new apartment complex. As you will see/hear in the video, I am truly learning the route and lay out. I did figure out a thing or two on this adventure to help make my next neighborhood walk more easier and even more successful. Not that it wasn’t successful LOL, just at the end of my journey after finding my way to a different apartment building than mine Haha, I had some wonderful assistance from a neighbor to help me find my way back to my apartment Front door. Because of this little dilemma at the end of my adventure, I now have a great idea for the next time to do it more independently with even more confidence. I’m going to be using an app called Blind Square. This is a GPS app for the blind. i’ve used this amazing app in the past for other things, but now I’m going to use it to mark the spot on the nature walking path that indicates I have arrived at my specific apartment building. Anyways, through my own confidence, skills, Technology, and yes, even in those times when the best of my skills and technology fails, through such sweet and lovely helpful individuals like I experienced at the end of this adventure, I am able to accomplish my goals with independence, freedom, and of course, with joy!!!
Always remember, you have to learn how to overcome your fears with faith, stepping out of your comfort zone to experience all that life has to offer. Because of my complete loss of eyesight, and my new independent living situation, I could very easily let my fears defeat me, keep me isolated, keep me from trying new things, but I’m choosing not to live that way! I love challenges, even though they can be scary and unsettling at times, because I put my faith and God, and have full confidence in myself, it’s through the challenges where I find more strength for the next one. And guess what? When I find more strength, I find more joy! #JoyIsAChoice #BelievingIsSeeing #Blind #TheBestIsYetToCome
