Beyond the Concert Hall: Isata Kanneh-Mason

The Vancouver Recital Society's Founder & Artistic Director, Leila Getz, speaks to pianist Isata Kanneh-Mason. Isata is the recipient of the 2021 Leonard Bernstein Award, a 2020 Opus Klassik award for best young artist and, as a member of the Kanneh-Mason family, the 2021 best classical artist at the Global Awards. She has performed on the VRS stage twice previously in duo concerts with her brother, cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason. Leila and Isata discuss her Isata's musical family, her new album, "Summertime", which was recently released on the Decca Classics label, and how Isata kept herself busy during the COVID-19 lockdowns. They also chat about Isata's upcoming move to Berlin to study at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler (the Hanns Eisler School) and about her busy upcoming season of recitals and touring.

Isata will play a solo recital in the VRS's upcoming 2021/22 Season on March 6, 2022.
