This summer, I spent 15 days at Three Rivers, California, during the Center Stage Strings music camp. These amazing days enriched my life, and the beauty of Three Rivers have been and will continue to be a source of inspiration to me. Nature's peace flowed into me as sunshine flowed into the trees, and I felt like a child. In the woods and rivers is a perpetual youth. The air up there is very clean and pure. The same kind as angels breathe. This, I believe, enabled us to make music from the heart.
Thanks to Ms. Danielle Belen, all our teachers, volunteers, host families and parents.

Joaquín Turina was born in Seville but his origins were in northern Italy (between Verona, Brescia and Mantova). He studied in Seville as well as in Madrid. He lived in Paris from 1905 to 1914 where he took composition lessons from Vincent d'Indy at his Schola Cantorum, and studied the piano under Moritz Moszkowski. Like his fellow countryman and friend, Manuel de Falla, while there he got to know the impressionist composers Maurice Ravel and Claude Debussy.
Turina was a prolific composer, equally well at home in large and small forms. He produced music in nearly all musical genres, always colorful, well-crafted, and infused with native Spanish atmosphere. Much of his work shows the influence of traditional Andalusian music. His music often conveys a feeling of rapture or exaltation.
