Philippine Typhoon Relief Concert - One Voice & I Dreamed A Dream

An average of 20 typhoons hit the Philippines every year, often causing death and destruction. But through it all, Filipinos carry on and make as much of the little they may have. This Filipino trait of resilience is what inspires me to help and make a difference with the means available to me as a musician.

It's very humbling for me to keep asking my friends to donate their time and talents. It's not easy to ask strangers for cash donations. So I would always remind myself of what Ninoy Aquino said before he was assassinated: "The Filipino is worth dying for."

Many people opened their hearts to give their time, talent, and treasure for the survivors of typhoon Sendong. This was a community effort, and I could not have done this on my own. For our sponsors and those who helped without asking for credit, I am extremely grateful to you all. As we all sung at the end, "We are the world... We are the ones who make a brighter day, so let's start giving..." Generosity inspires generosity.

While some people stay away from those who are continuously fundraising, and asking for donations, I embrace them. Not because I have a lot to give but because I believe there's no contribution that is too small to make a difference in our community.
