While I enjoyed all kinds of music, I inevitably found myself drawn more to sad and melancholy tunes, especially on all of those Friday and Saturday nights when I found myself practicing alone for a concert.

Truth be told, there are lonely people all around us who may seem to have it all together, but are secretly very unhappy, ashamed to admit that they feel alone.

Jesus experienced loneliness Himself. He wept. He cried when He heard the news of the death of His good friend, Lazarus. His heart broke with sadness.

Jesus' tears demonstrates God's empathy. Tears are so precious to God that He records and stores each one. The psalm writer said, "You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in Your bottle. You have recorded each one in Your book." (Psalm 56:8)

Our tears form wordless prayers connecting us with God. He desires to gather us in His arms. Jesus comforts us with His love and His tears.

Father God, You know my tears. You value each of my tears so much that You gather them in Your bottle and write them in Your book. Teach me to desire only Jesus. In His name. Amen.
