About the NCTC Bald Eagles
The resident pair, are named Bella (female) and Smitty (male). Bella and Smitty has been together since the fall of 2018. Bella replaced the original female Belle who was critically injured during a territorial fight with several eagles in the spring of 2018. The resident male Smitty has been at this nest since 2011 when he replaced the long-term resident male Liberty.
The NCTC Bald Eagle nest is located 75 miles from Washington, D.C. on the campus of The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services' National Conservation Training Center (NCTC). The campus is located at Shepherdstown, West Virginia. The nest and territory is prime real estate located about 1/4 mile from the Potomac River; rich in resources for an active bald eagle family and at times visitors/intruders challenge Bella and Smitty for their territory.
Many thanks to the National Conservation Training Center, The US Fish and Wildlife Services, the Outdoor Channel and the Friends of the NCTC for providing and maintaining this bald eagle cam. Viewers from around the world appreciate the opportunity to view and watch this amazing bald eagle family from the comfort of their own home.
