I created this simple arrangement of a Basil Valdez classic, GAANO KADALAS ANG MINSAN, to showcase the individual artistry of Jona, Aicelle and Maricris. Remember, they were solo artists, first and foremost, before Ms. Darling de Jesus-Bodegon founded LA DIVA. I remember writing the vocal arrangement on the spot while we were at the studio already recording their solo parts because I had a very difficult time trying to elicit a very poignant mood from my vocal arrangement. I was able to heave a sigh of relief after listening to the finished product, thanks to the sensitive, emotional and mature rendition of my three talented ladies!

As usual, it was the brilliant idea of Ms. Wilma Galvante to let LA DIVA sing this to veer away from the original version.

In typical La Diva style - intricate vocal parts and counterpoints, outstanding interpretation and musical artistry. I created this type of vocal arrangement to set La Diva apart from other vocal groups. I love doing counterpoints by creating new melodies over the original melody, making sure Jona, Aicelle and Maricris are given solo parts to stand out on their own without having to sing harmony from beginning to end.
