Xiaomi Redmi Note 9T 5G Review | Budget 5G, but it's no Mi 10T Lite

Reviewing Xiaomi's Redmi Note 9T 5G, a budget-friendly 2021 smartphone costing just over £200 in the UK. I've been testing the camera tech, gaming performance, battery life and other bits, comparing this mobile with the excellent Mi 10T Lite. And I have to say, I prefer Xiaomi's other affordable 5G phone compared with the Redmi Note 9T.

For one, the Mediatek Dimensity 800U chipset seemed to struggle at times with MiUI 12. While the Realme 7 5G coped fine, this smartphone crashed once when using the camera app and showed some other dodgy behaviour too. Still, you can get gaming on PubG, Call of Duty and so on, with medium graphics settings.

Battery life is certainly excellent on the Redmi Note 9T, giving you a full, intensive day of use with 18W fast charging. You also get dual SIM 5G support, which is an impressive feature. However, the camera is rather basic, struggling with moving subjects and conditions that aren't ideal. And that IPS screen is fine but doesn't offer 90Hz or 120Hz refresh like the Xiaomi Mi 10T Lite.

So that's my review of this budget phone, one of the first but probably not the best of 2021. Let me know what you think below, and stay tuned for more Xiaomi action!
