Behind the scenes Whalebacks of the Great Lakes
This takes you behind the scenes back in the day when a do it yourself inventor by the name of Captain Alexander McDougall created a type of oreboat that was beyond steampunk. In the late 1880s he had crews riveting together sheets of steel and bands of of iron that looked like science fiction- but these metal monsters were real. They appeared to be something right out of Jules Verne to the average Victorian ager, but they were working ships. He called them "Whalebacks."
