Shipwreck Sisters of Lake Superior one vanished the other broke in half in twin disasters
Sister ships that Lake Superior destroyed in her ice water rage. These disasters took place within 60 miles of one another and within two and one half years of one another. One boat carrying grain simply vanished, the other carrying iron ore broke in two in front of the horrified crews of four other freighters. Although they are different tales in shipwreck lore, the vessels were constructed in the same shipyard and launched just 11 months apart and were sisters in life and then in death. Their wrecks cost the lives of 41 people most of whom never had their bodies recovered and some are still entombed in the wreckage deep in the darkness of Lake Superior. Included here is the story of James True, and Tige, the ship's dog.
