Daggerboard Meets Bulb — The Struggle Is Real! | Sharpie Sailboat Build --V58 Pt1
At last — the big moment where I mate the daggerboard to the recycled Noelex lead bulb for my 23ft (7m) Sharpie sailboat build!
It wasn’t smooth sailing though... I hit stainless steel buried in the lead, broke extra-long drill bits, and had to come up with three different backup plans for securing the bolts in the bulb. Fortunately, the final method worked out well — and I’m pretty happy with the result.
I’d hoped to have the daggerboard and bulb mounted in the boat this week too (believe me, I wanted that shot as much as you did!), but this job ran overtime and is now cutting into my trailer-building schedule. Still aiming to be sailing by Christmas, so the push continues!
