"Always On A Mountain" - Cover By D.R. Storm
Hello Folks,
Well, I'm back again. This is the full version - better audio quality, of my version of "Always On A Mountain" The other version - which I will upload pretty soon after this one - will be a two minute sample of this same song to America's Got Talent. I viewed some of the other submissions, and the performances are pretty raw and straightforward, so I thought I'd better do the same with mine, plus I wanted to make sure I kept within the time constraint as well.
I've had a lot of people ask me how I do my videos. So I'm going to reveal some of my secrets here, and hopefully answer some of your questions. As with my usual way of doing things I tape a live performance of me recording a song into my digital recorder, and then I usually add a little reverb depending on the type of song I am doing. I probably overuse the reverb a bit, because I have never liked a dry sound. Then from there I master it to make sure my levels are good, and then I replace the audio track on my camera with this recording.
My recorder has a pitch correction option, but I NEVER use it nor will I EVER use it, because I don't want to ever get dependant on it, plus it forces me to train my ear to try and get the best sound possible when performing. Any digital manipulation I have ever used in the past - if at all any, has been minimal.
I have been asked by some people if I lip synch to a recording. The answer is yes - but to my own voice. In some of my videos where I use all kinds of transitions and effects, I prerecord the song and then lip synch to that.
Not to sound presumptuous when I say this, but I have also been asked I have ever lip synched to an Elvis recording, and the answer is no. As flattering as this is to me because I have always been a big admirer of Elvis' music, I have never lip synched to any of his recordings. If there is any resemblence to Elvis it is not intended, and it is purely coincidental.
Well the pretty much wraps it up folks. I hope you enjoy it. Don't forget to come and see me at my website: www.drstormonline.com I hope to see you there. If I make it to the final 40 finalist on the youtube AGT auditions, please come by and vote for me. Hope to see you all again next time. God Bless.
