I have loved this song ever since I first heard Vic Damone perform it. I would have given anything to have found his arrangement of it, but this was the only one that I could find...oh well.
Written in 1947 for the musical "Brigadoon" by Fredrick Loewe and Alan Jay Lerner. The song was initially performed by David Brooks and Marion Bell. It became even more popular when it was performed by Gene Kelly in the 1954 film version of the original musical.
The song when on to be performed by a multitude of different pop artist including Nat King Cole, Dean Martin, and Frank Sinatra.
