First Time in Lisbon? Here's How to Use the Metro

It’s easy to take the Metro (subway system) from Lisbon’s airport to the downtown city center.

You’ll find color-coded maps of the metro system at the airport. Use Google Maps to figure out which stop is closest to your hotel.
Typically, the ride will cost less than 2 Euros, and take about 30 minutes.

You can buy Metro passes, or skip them entirely and just pay as you go with your credit card.
Like many cities, Lisbon has upgraded their subway system to make entry easier than ever.
Just tap your credit card (Visa or Mastercard) on the card reader at the kiosk, and the gate opens.

The platforms are spacious and clean, and you’ll see boards telling you how long the wait will be.
