Off Grid RV Rain Water Collection System

Homemade rain water collection system for my off grid camper. Total cost $5. I used mostly scrap items I scrounged up to make the system. I got the camper water tank from an old junk camper I got for free to gut out. 55 gallon food grade barrels work as well.

Two 40 x 1.5 foot metal sheets were placed on the roof as water collectors. Then some rain gutter and scrap siding trim were used to move the water to the storage tank. A milk jug acts as a funnel. Thats it. Anyone can make a rain water collection system for their own home.

Later upgrades will include a larger tank and a filter system. For now this water is used for bathing and washing dishes. For drinking, I run it through a Brita filter. None of my guests have complained (or died) yet.
