The Headstand (Shirshasana or Viparita Karani Mudra)

Reinhard Gammenthaler shows the correct performance of the Headstand (Shirshasana or Viparita Karani Mudra)
"All the nectar that flows from the spendid moon (above the palate) is swallowed up by the blazing sun (at the navel); and it is for this reason that the body gets old. - There is a superb practice which prevents the nectar from being eaten by the sun. It can only be known from an accomplished Guru, not from the millions of people who talk about it. - The practice in which the navel is above and the palate below, the sun above and the moon below, is known as Viparita Karani, the inverted practice. It can only be understood by hearing the words uttered by a real Guru."
(Hathayoga Pradipika, chapter III, verses 76 - 78)
