My Top Calisthenics Exercises to Build My Legs Muscular and Athletic
These are the exercises that I very often use to train my legs for more performance, athleticism, endurance, health, and hypertrophy. Part of them are based on calisthenics like the Pistol (One-Leg) Squats, various plyometrics like Frog Jumps, One-Leg Jumps, Box Jumps, Burpees, etc, and of course Bodyweight Squats and Walking Lunges.
To ensure the growth for my legs, I also used weighted squats except that I put a training partner on my shoulders instead of a barbell. Either way, it matters to increase the intensity by applying more resistance. Weighted Squats have to be part of your weekly training. In the absences of a barbell or a training buddy to be placed on shoulders, then use Pistol Squats to increase resistance and tension.
The other exercises are still based on my own bodyweight, but not necessarily part of calisthenics. I am talking about Uphill Sprints, Mountain Running, Trail Run and of course, training using the stairs for elevation. Trail run with a high elevation made a huge difference for me. I built athletic legs, increased musculature, and enhanced mobility and joint health. It is also a great cardio training for aggressively losing fat reserves. Running and jumping on stairs can be compared with uphill sprints, you can choose one over another depending on what you have access too. However, stairs training is best for growing the legs, building stamina and burning hundreds of calories. Use a high elevation for any of the types.
