The final step in printing a shirt or other item that will be washed with a yudu machine is to heat set the item. If it will not be washed this step is not required, but since the ink is water based this step is critical for washable items.

It is really simple. Once the yudu ink has air dried to the touch it is ready to be heat set. To do this you need an iron and a crap of fabric or sheet of craft paper. With your iron set to a medium to high setting you will place the scrap of fabric over the image and then iron it for 3-5 minutes.

This makes the yudu ink undergo a change that makes if much more durable in washing conditions. The setting on the iron should be appropriate for fabrics being used. More delicate fabrics will be more difficult or impossible to get a really good heat set on.
