I went to the Qinling Mountains to look for honeysuckle when the season was full of blossoms; I went to the Western Sichuan Plateau to pick mother-of-pearl when the sun was scorching; I went to the Northwest Desert to dig for licorice when the leaves were falling; and I dug for Chinese lisianthus in the Sichuan Basin when the snow was falling; I collected, dried, and stored. After four seasons, spanning north and south, I finally gathered all the materials. I opened a thick book, carefully studied and tried to figure out the meaning of each step, weighed and proportioned the ingredients, crushed and ground them, simmered them over high and low heat, and finally, after dozens of procedures and more than ten hours, I was able to make the honey-refined Chuan Bei loquat paste.
