From the diary of Sergei Alexandrovich Lobovikov: "October 4, 1900 I remembered how little I was, visiting my grandmother. She is so glorious, but strict. I remember how she made me pray, sometimes you go to bed, then before you stand in front of an icon with a lit lamp on your knees, you pray for a long, long time. Dear grandmother, how many worries she showed, how much affection ... You used to lie on the bed (this was my favourite bed), they put out the fire, and outside the window the wind whistles, a blizzard; you are afraid - the wolves are probably here under running around with windows, thieves would not have broken down the doors and stabbed my grandmother and me, and with this you will fall asleep ... "

The way of life of the family of a rural clergyman (Sergei Lobovikov's father was a deacon) almost did not differ from the peasant. Many rural priests plowed the land, kept cattle, raised bees. And on Sundays and holidays, they put on a cassock and went to serve in the church.
Sergei, as the eldest child in the family, was the mother's main household assistant, nursed the younger ones, and in his free time he played with his friends - the village children. Later, having settled in Vyatka, Lobovikov made peasant life the main theme of his work.

In the summer, his family rented rooms in villages and hamlets in the vicinity of Vyatka-Fileyka, Skopino, Krasny. Here, taking a break from working in the studio, Lobovikov devoted himself entirely to creativity, photographing peasant children.
