While these enhancements aim to bolster the spacecraft's versatility and performance for future missions, the focus of Flight 7 will be entirely on mastering landing and vehicle recovery techniques.

Elon Musk has emphasized that a clean water landing on the upper stage is the primary objective for this mission. A successful splashdown would pave the way for Flight 8 to attempt a groundbreaking launch tower catch for the Starship upper stage. This maneuver would mirror the recent Super Heavy booster catch from October but with an added challenge: the Starship will return from a significantly higher altitude and approach over land, specifically from Mexico.
Flight 7 will aim to replicate the landing trajectory demonstrated in November during Flight 6, albeit with a major improvement in the vehicle's post-splashdown condition. While Flight 6 showed promise in its descent pattern, it ultimately failed to remain intact upon hitting the water, breaking apart and catching fire.
