As the launch date for Starship Flight 9 is just a few days away, the one thing we’re all waiting for most is probably the FAA launch license. However, things aren't going as expected, just recently, the FAA revealed a new problem on Starship Flight 9 Licence.
So what problem has the FAA declared for SpaceX?

The third static fire test of Ship 35 was conducted successfully, as announced by the company on X, accompanied by stunning and fiery images.
“Starship completed a long duration six-engine static fire and is undergoing final preparations for the ninth flight test.”
After completing the test, Ship 35 has been moved back to the Production Site to be equipped with an additional payload. Meanwhile, Booster 14 has been placed on the Orbital Launch Mount (OLM) and has undergone several mini-tests to validate the launch operation systems.
Looking at this progress, it’s clear that Starship is nearly ready for its upcoming flight. Notably, maritime hazard warnings for sailors in all sea areas have been scheduled from May 21, leading many to assert that this is the launch date for Starship. This assumption is entirely reasonable, or even accurate when considering the history of previous launches.

However, things are not as straightforward this time.
Historically, SpaceX submitted the IFT-7 report about a month after the incident (from January 16 to February 24, 2025), and the FAA closed that report a month later (March 28, 2025). If a similar timeline applies to IFT-8 (incident on March 6, 2025), SpaceX could have submitted the report by early April, with the FAA closing it by early May. However, we are now in mid-May, and no report has been submitted, indicating a delay in the investigation process.
