How to make Classic German Strawberry Cake

It is strawberry season - and one of the best ways to enjoy this great fruit is on a freshly baked cake with some cream on top of it.
You can make this cake with any fruit and it is a traditional cake in Germany all around the year. You can even put caned fruit on it.

You can also use a simple tin, not a special one as I have. Or just use a baking tray.

And this is an easy recipe.
you need:

500g of Strawberries
some chocolate
"Tortenguss" for glazing

for the dough

75g butter
60 sugar
vanilla paste
salt
2 eggs
150g plain flour
1tsp baking powder.

Mix the ingredients, butter sugar and eggs first and then add the flour.
Spread the dough evenly in your tin and bake for about 15 minutes at 175 C / 347 F.

Melt some chocolate and spread on the cake.
Put the strawberries on the cake.

Now you need some "Tortenguss". I got that from the Dutch shop, but you need to look a bit if you get something like a clear glaze.
It is made out of a mixture of gelatin, agar agar and pectin. There are different types, so have a look.
You can make it your own as well using some starch and gelatin.

Cook the glaze and put on cake while hot. Let cool down.

Serve with some freshly whipped cream.
