Meteorite Men | S01 E03 | The Tucson Ring Mystery

The Meteorite Men put on cowboy hats and head to the Wild West and Geoff's adopted home state of Arizona. There, they dig into the intriguing legend of the mysterious Tucson Ring — a giant 1,370-pound space rock, found in the 1800s and which is today the centerpiece of the Smithsonian Institution's meteorite collection. Local lore insists that the Ring was only one of many meteorites hidden in the remote and dangerous Santa Rita Mountains. After encounters with scorpions, unexploded ammunition, an abandoned gold mine, and savage summer heat, the guys visit Dr. Laurence Garvie at the Center For Meteorite Studies at ASU to try and solve the enduring mystery.

TRIVIA
This is the first of several episodes in which the MM use the amphibious Hydtratrek go-anywhere tracked vehicle, affectionately dubbed "The Rockhound." Filmed during the summer in Arizona, the cast and crew worked daily in 110-degree temperatures.
