From Orphanage to Wilderness! Khanyisa Goes Walkabout With the Elephants

Welcome to a new morning at HERD! 💚Khanyisa enjoys a scratch while Stavros cleans her nursery, followed by some grassy nibbles before Reply guides her out of the orphanage and to the herd!

Khanyisa meets up with the elephants as they all head off into the wilderness and to the waterhole for that first drink stop! 🐘

The herd move swiftly while at the dam they pick up a new scent — of lions who passed through the area earlier in the day or night. The herd react curiously, bundling together in sections and urinating as they do in moments of heightened excitement. This reaction to the scent comes from their innate protective and guardian nature over their herd — protect and serve is the elephant way. Tokwe inspects the periphery to see if all is safe and that the lions have moved on while Fishan continues to sniff out the prime scent site.

Once all is seen to be good, the herd settle around the water 💦 and enjoy a drink before their day of foraging and roaming!
