The Execution Of The Duke Of Clarence Drowned In A Barrel Of Wine

One of the most shocking executions of the Medieval period saw the brother of a King George Plantagenet being drowned in a barrel of Malmsey Wine. George Plantagenet, the Duke of Clarence was the brother of Edward IV and he dissented and plotted against him a number of times, and he even supported rebellions and encouraged the enemies of his family. But George later was condemned for treason and this would sent him into the Tower of London to experience a unique death.

He was allegedly drowned in a barrel of Malmsey Wine, and this was due to an alleged request on his behalf that this should be his execution method. This is the only time in English History that someone was executed in this strange manner.
