Lecture on 4 March (11am–1pm)
Recent efforts to digitize Geniza documents have made them more easily accessible than ever before. And new algorithms from the field of computer visualization have made it possible to match fragmentary parts of the same document. This lecture will demonstrate the potential of the new technologies to help piece together lost medieval Arabic archives, as well as some risks inherent in the algorithms.
