Some people are able to buy a new smartphone every two years and not worry about the health of their battery. Others, like myself, tend to pick a device we like a lot and then use it for as long as possible. The one thing we need to look out for when using a smartphone or tablet for 3 years, 4 years, or even 5 years or more, is the status of the battery.

So in today's video I want to show you a way for those with a Samsung Galaxy smartphone or tablet to monitor the health of their battery.

I have the Samsung Galaxy S23 here, and this process will work for the Galaxy S23+, Galaxy S23 Ultra, the Galaxy S22 series, Galaxy S21 series, and almost every other device with the Samsung Galaxy brand.

This can be an important troubleshooting step for you to try if you have noticed your smartphone or tablet is not able to make it through the day without being charged. I normally recommend people boot their device into Safe Mode to figure out if the issue is related to a 3rd-party application that you have installed.

But if your device is getting old then it could be the battery itself that is no longer able to obtain a full charge. Thankfully, there's a feature with in the Samsung Members application that we can use to check on the status of our battery.

To begin, we need to download a 1st-party application from the Galaxy App Store.

So open the app up, and then search for the word members.
The Samsung Members application should appear toward the top of the list.
Go ahead and install this so that we can open it up.

From here, we need to tap the Support tab down here at the bottom
Then, select the Phone Diagnostics card
And finally, scroll through this big list of hardware and software feature that we can test out

But we're going to focus on the health of your battery, so we just need to to select Battery Status
It shouldn't take much time at all for this application to diagnose the status of your Samsung Galaxy battery.

You'll either be told that your Samsung Galaxy Battery Health is in normal range, or it is in a poor condition.
If the battery health is normal and you're still having issues making it through a full day, again, I recommend you check out the video I did about booting into Safe Mode.

I realize that it can be a pain to keep the phone in Safe Mode throughout the day to test your battery. . .but it can save you a lot of time compared to uninstalling your apps/games one at a time just to see if you have one that is acting up.

The issue could also be within your Android filesystem as well. A new OTA update can bug out and cause an app or service to continuously run in the background when it doesn't need to. Or an app could be crashing over and over again with the OS repeatedly launching it in an attempt to keep it running.

So if Safe Mode doesn't help to fix your battery life issue, and the health of your battery is in good standing, then you may need to look into a factory data reset in order to fix it. Just be sure to backup your important data ahead of time so you don't lose anything that is critical to you.

I hope this has helped anyone with a Samsung Galaxy smartphone or table to help figure out what is going on with their battery. Each device can only handle so many charge cycles before it begins to degrade. And once you get past a certain point you'll either need to look into upgrading the phone or replacing the battery.

This is something that can be done at home, if you're into that sort of thing, or it could be taken to a repair shop so a professional can do all of the hard work.
