This past week we learned that popular Switch emulator YUZU has just been released in the Google Play Store. So today I want show you how this emulator can be installed, how to set it up, and give you a quick look at its performance on the public build available right now.

To begin, we need to open up the Play Store and do a search for the word YUZU. We're looking for the emulator app released by Team yuzu and citra. You should see two of them listed. One is a free version, which is to be considered the public stable release.

The other is going to cost you $5 and is the experimental early access build. Both of these are released by the same group of developers with the early access version coming with so-called cutting-edge features and speed improvements, access to in-development updates and prioritized support.

I'm just going to be showing off the free version here today, but maybe I'll be able to get a promo code for the early access version. I would then be able to do some side-by-side comparisons so you get to see how the different versions work.

Once YUZU has been installed on your Android smartphone or tablet, let's open it up and then go through the setup process.

You can choose whether or not you want to grant the app access to send you notifications and then you'll be requested to choose your product keys file.

However, there seems to be a bug in this early build of YUZU for Android and will result in an error message even if your product keys file is working properly. I'll show you how to fix this in just a moment.

Even if we have games on our phone and ready to go, we are unable to play anything right now if you got an error when trying to import the prod.keys file.

I like to use Solid Explorer but you can likely use any file manager application of your choice.

Here we have our product keys and title keys files, but for this initial setup we only need to copy the product keys file. Once that file has been copied, let's browse over to the root directory and then dive into the Android folder. From here, let's tap into the Data directory, and then scroll all the way down to the bottom to find our YUZY app folder.

You should see a files folder here, and then inside there you will see a directory named keys. This is the folder where our product keys file needs to be pasted into.

Now that this has been completed, lets force close the YUZU application and then open it up again.

We can simply tap on any of the games we have a copy of and attempt to play it on our Android smartphone or tablet. I say attempt because this version of YUZU is quite new right now and there could be some conflicts with the game you choose to play.

Right now, it looks like the app works best on devices with a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset, which is why I'm using the Galaxy S23 in today's demonstration.

So just know that the app will not work on every Android device. . .and that it may struggle to play certain games due to hardware limitations.

Let's look at the Settings options available in the YUZU emulator for Android. The Advanced Settings area gives us access to enable a limit speed option and configure the CPU accuracy setting.

We can enable Docked Mode. Select an emulated region and language. While also enabling and setting up a custom RTC for our emulator.

We can customize the look of the YUZU emulator application. And install Amiibo keys from the settings area.

There's also a way to install a custom GPU driver onto your device. This option is useful for Qualcomm Snapdragon devices as we see new drivers released every now and then.
