Digimon Adventure (PSP, English Sub): Part 30: Episode 16

The Chosen Children were able to find their first Crest, one that belonged to Tai.

The leader of the DigiDestined was now determined to unlock his Crest's power to so that Agumon can reach higher Digivolution that would be capable of defeating Etemon!

For now, the kids were on a quest to find the rest of their Crests and get away from Etemon. This brought them into another desert.

Tai was still pretty confident in activated his Crest, but Agumon and everyone else was worn out from their desert hike...

The team finally runs into an oasis, thankfully. So they took a break so they could cool off and find some food.

During this gathering, as Tai, you have an oppotunity to raise his Bonding Rank with Izzy. Just be sure to do this before collecting enough food.
----------

Speaking of Izzy, he then afterwards informed Tai of how Digimon need energy to Digivolve.

You're given a choice to how Tai responds to this, but neither makes a real difference and doesn't raise any Bonding Ranks.

So either way, Tai decided that the best thing to do right now is feed Agumon as much of the kids' gathered food as possible!

This made everyone pretty uncomfortable; seeing their leader overfeed Agumon like this. Was this really the way towards his next evolution...?

Suddenly, Joe's Tag was reacting to something. It seemed that his own Crest was somewhere inside a nearby coliseum.

On the way, Joe tripped over a cable. Turned out that was for equipment Etemon set up at that very same coliseum...

The kids reached the coliseum, and saw it had some Soccer goals in it. Joe wanted to keep looking for his Crest, while everyone else besides Tai wanted to play some Soccer games. Meanwhile, Agumon was still pretty stuffed...

That's when Etemon made his next move. He projected himself from a large monitor and trapped the kids in an eletrified Soccer goal.

Only Agumon was not caught by this trap, so Etemon forced him to fight a surprising enemy... ANOTHER GREYMON!

Agumon himself Digivolved into Greymon to fight this evil twin, but he was still worn out from Tai overstuffing him with food. He remained unable to Digivolve further.

The team ended up plunging into some underground ruins, leading Tai's Greymon on his own.

You switch from Tai to Joe at this point as Tai's rushing over back to his Greymon. During this, Joe's Tag reacts much more strongly.

You'll eventually have Joe find a dead end that wields his Crest. He finally gains it and unlocks a new path out from the ruins.

Tai was able to reach back to his Greymon, and he was losing against Etemon's.

Tai REALLY pushed his Greymon to finally Digivolve. So much so that he joined in on the two Greymon fighting each other.

Eventually, his Greymon finally Digivolved.

However... it was not in a way he was probably hoping for. This was not a pleasant Digivolution. It was a Dark Digivolution.

And so... unfortunately...

*GREYMON DARK DIGIVOLVED TO... SKULLGREYMON!*

Tai's SkullGreymon utterly destroyed Etemon's Greymon and his monitor in one shot, but this was because he had gone completely out of control!

Tai was struck still with fear at what happened, enough that he almost got crushed before Matt rushed him out of the way. Joe had to lead the charge with the others to take down this evil Digimon form!

Through a harsh struggle, the rest of the Chosen Children's capable Digimon were eventually able to defeat SkullGreymon and reduce him back down to a Koromon.

This also brought Koromon back to his senses. He apologized for the trouble he caused...

But no one was actually anymore sorry than Tai for forcing his own Digimon into going through such a horrible transformation. He let his impatience with activating his Crest get to the best of him, and now he realized how much trouble that caused for everyone.

Koromon had no energy to Digivolve back into even an Agumon anymore, and Taichi, the fallen leader of his own team, was left to feel depressed and completely ashamed of himself...
