Visit to The Medical City

Ortigas Avenue, Pasig City
May 11, 2026

Aiming to strengthen and improve the country’s healthcare system for all sectors of society, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. visited The Medical City in Pasig City on 11 May 2026 to inspect hospital areas where PhilHealth programs are being implemented.

He interacted with emergency room (ER) patients and was briefed on PhilHealth’s Outpatient Emergency Care Benefit, which covers outpatient emergency care for conditions such as dizziness and minor injuries. The program also provides fixed rates for ER fees, diagnostics and medicines in accredited Level 1 to Level 3 hospitals.

The President also spoke with the spouse of a patient who is a beneficiary of PhilHealth’s Maternal Care Package and is currently staying in the Mother and Baby Care Ward. As of 30 April 2026, PhilHealth expanded its maternity benefits to up to Php29,000 for normal spontaneous delivery (NSD), while coverage for cesarean section ranges from Php58,000 to Php62,000. The package also includes eight (8) prenatal check-ups and three (3) follow-up visits. Through these expanded benefits, PhilHealth members can now access services at private hospitals without worrying about high medical expenses.

There are approximately 3,000 medical and non-medical employees at The Medical City, which caters to almost 1,500 patients daily.
