Undervolting is a process where you can reduce the voltage that’s going to the CPU, and it doesn’t affect the Performance. The reason you could do this safely because CPUs are fed more voltage than they actually need. So lowering the Voltage leads to a better Temperature and Overall better Battery Life.

Throttlestop is one of those better alternatives of Intel XTU where not only you can undervolt it but also have plethora of options of tuning up the CPU in many other ways as you wish to. Since in this video, we would be primarily focusing on undervolting, rather than explaining each and every term in it, I’d head out straight to it. Firstly, click on Turbo FIVR controls, here you find the bunch of options, hover your mouse towards FIVR control and then click CPU cores, and right under that, there’s an option to Unlock Adjustable Voltage in CPU core Voltage. There you find the bunch of other options coming out from the gray area, like Offset Voltage , IccMax and Cache Ratio, we are going to deal with Offset Voltage for now, toggle the slide bar on the left side to reduce the voltage your CPU has access to. Some starting offset is negative 50 millivolts for U-series processors and 100 millivolts for H-series processors. And then go to CPU Cache and set the same as Core value. You don’t have to keep it just as same as core value but as to make it easy, I find it’s good to put the value close to it. And before applying that in the bottom right, click on save voltages after throttle stop exits, with this option you can prevent unstable voltages from saving.
So In order to test the stability of the undervolt, you go to TS Bench and then click start, and in this test you can whole bunch of calculations and fetch out a score in the end, however we don’t need that score to be more, we only here are looking to check whether the computer crashes or not, or if the test finds any errors in the calculations, if it does then your CPU isn’t stable as it’s making errors which you don’t want as you might have untervolted too far, so let’s say my sweet spot is for intel 9300H is around negative 150mV, and if I set anything above that, it’d either start showing errors in the Benchmark or it crashes right after applying the Voltage Values. SO it that happens. Just go back to the setting and try to hover the voltage slider to the right direction to set it less negative. And after applying and doing this for severe time, you’d find a sweet spot for your CPU. Some common undervolting voltages, which I find you can start up with till you find the point where you should stop. You can also run games to check the stability of the values. As undervolting helps in decreasing the overall temperate of the system without levying any performance burden is something, I’d recommend every laptop user to do it. I’d also make a separate video on how you can even lower the temps by Underclocking your CPUs in Throttlestop which would drastically improves the temp to a whole new level. Thanks for watching the video, and let me know if you have any further questions regarding this. Have a nice day!
