Woodturning- Simple wooden platter

Good to see you again!

Couple of days ago, one of my friends brought me some Zelkova wood scraps.
He manages a huge wood slab furniture company in South Korea, so he occasionally gives me some wasted gemstones.

For your information, Zelkova is a North East Asian wood species and especially Korean people traditionally regard it as a spiritual tree like a village guardian.

BTW, that friend wants me to make a useful wooden thing with it because it has a beautiful figure and color. However, most of them were decayed and rotten, also the thickness was only about 1 1/4".
So, I decided to make platters and other flat and simple objects with them.

In this video, I made a platter with that Zelkova scrap and I intentionally turned it as simple as possible to show the natural beauty of wood.
