Removal of a Rinnai inlet water filter

I have had several service calls and phone conversations on the removal of a inlet water filter how important is it to remove it before you service a Rinnai unit and how to remove a stuck one.
I have found these steps are going to work at least 99% of the time but there is going to be ones that wont come out so you will have to replace the cold water inlet valve.
Here are the part numbers,

O" Ring -# M10B-2-14
3/4" NPT water Inlet-#H73-501-2

DONT FORGET IF YOU HAVE TO REPLACE THE WATER INLET FITTING YOU HAVE TO REMOVE AND REINSTALL THE HALF OF THE COLD WATER SERVICE VALE UNION.
