The F-84 in the Korean War: A Fighter Pilot's First-Hand Account of Combat in the Thunderjet

Col. John C. Wright, USAF (ret) gives a presentation of his Korean War experiences to the 78th Fighter Squadron in October 1997. As a brand-new 2nd Lt at the time he was sent to Korea in 1952, he ultimately flew 100 combat missions in the Republic F-84 Thunderjet.

During a 24-year career as an Air Force pilot, Col. Wright primarily flew the F-84, B-47, B-58, F-105, and B-52, but he was also checked in many other military aircraft. Prior to his commissioning in 1951, Col. Wright served in the Texas Air National Guard. After his retirement in 1975, he spent 17 years running the Air Force Junior ROTC unit at Cooper High School in Abilene, Texas.

This presentation to the 78th FS was videoed by me.
