Churros

Ingredients:

240ml water
50g unsalted butter
1 tbsp sugar
1 tsp vanilla essence
Pinch salt
150g all purpose flour
1 large egg, whisked

Oil for frying (vegetable oil)

Cinnamon sugar

(For serving) Melted chocolate or hot chocolate drink

Method:

1) add to a saucepan the water, butter, salt, sugar and vanilla. Heat over medium heat until the butter has fully melted. Remove from heat.

2) add the flour and stir until combine, if the mixture is a little loose you can place back on the heat and keep folding with spatula until thicker.

3) remove dough and place in a glass bowl and allow to cool for ten minutes before adding the egg. Add the egg and combine fully.

4) transfer dough to a piping bag. Using a large star tip nozzle pipe the mixture onto grease proof paper and place in the freezer for 45min.

5) heat enough oil to deep fry. Fry all churros until golden, they will continue to cook for a few minutes after removing from the oil and will get darker in color. Transfer to wire rack to drain the excess oil.

6) leave for a few minutes then dust with cinnamon sugar.

7) serve with melted chocolate or a hot chocolate drink.
