DeadPool 3 Spider-Man - Official Movie Trailer

Deadpool 3 is one of the most-anticipated movies around, even though we still don't know when it'll arrive.

After the success of Deadpool 2, a third movie seemed all-but certain and despite some confusion over how the foul-mouthed anti-hero could fit into Disney's family-friendly MCU, Deadpool 3 will be happening at some point.

"We're working on it right now with the whole team. We're over at Marvel [Studios] now, which is like the big leagues all of a sudden. It's kinda crazy," confirmed Ryan Reynolds in December 2019.

But what else do we know about the third outing for Wade Wilson?

We're still waiting on an official release date for the third movie as it wasn't part of Marvel's Phase 4 announcement at Comic-Con 2019.

That had some fans concerned that Deadpool 3 might not happen, but writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick have reassured everyone that the third movie will happen, they just need to find the right idea.

"Marvel has promised to continue to let us play in the R-rated Deadpool universe, and the hope is that they will also let us veer into the MCU a little bit as well and play in that sandbox," explained Wernick.

"Our feeling and Ryan's feeling is that it's got to be the right idea, it's got to be great… I think once we collectively agree what idea that great idea is we'll be off to the races."

What it means is that we can still expect a fair wait for Deadpool 3 and it's hard to say when it'll be released.

Disney has got a host of release dates for unconfirmed Marvel movies throughout 2022 and 2023. At this moment in time, we fear we might be waiting until one of the 2023 dates – February 17, May 5, July 28 and November 3.

However, the second movie took less than a year from start of filming to being released in cinemas, so any of the 2022 dates – February 18, July 29 and October 7 – could be a potential if Deadpool 3 starts filming by late 2020 or early 2021.

If there's one certainty in life, it's that Ryan Reynolds will reprise the role of Wade Wilson for Deadpool 3.

Speaking to Lorraine Kelly, the Hollywood star praised the part: "It's the role I feel most privileged to have in my entire career. I feel like I was sort of born for it. I love Deadpool. It's the miracle of the mask."
