Feathered Spiral Galaxy NGC 2775 is part of the the Antilia-Hydra Cloud of galaxies and is located in the constellation of Cancer. Millions of hot blue stars shine brilliantly in the complex, feather-like spiral arms.

Spiral Galaxy’s feathered spiral arms are interlaced with dark lanes of space dust. Clusters of the young, blue stars trigger star formations in nearby gas clouds. These feather-like spiral patterns of the arms are formed by shearing of the gas clouds as the galaxy rotates.

The feathered spiral arms of Galaxy NGC 2775 suggest that the recent star formation of the galaxy has been relatively quiet. There seems to be no discernible star formation in the central part of the galaxy. And the center of NGC 2775 is dominated by an unusually large and relatively empty galactic bulge, where all the gas was converted into stars long ago.
NGC 2275 has a diameter of 80,000 light-years and is classified as a flocculent spiral galaxy. The spiral nature of flocculent galaxies are a unique contrast to grand-design spiral galaxies, which have prominent, well defined-spiral arms.
