Making a New Wooden Handle for TysyTube - Woodturning

My friend Tysy is currently restoring a big bread-, meat- or paper slicer kind of thing. The handle of it was cracked, so was the brass ring on it. He asked me if I can make him a new one.
The old handle was made of maple, so I made the new one with maple too. I decided to make the brass ring a tiny bit bigger and stronger. I remade an alûminium tang to test fit the new handle. I wanted to go in for 3/4 of its length, that should be perfect for Tysy to burn the handle on.
